For the crowd in South India, the topic is not new! Every film and every story read about this so called “Heroic” game. For the unknown, it is something similar the Spanish Bullfight only difference being here there are numbers of people and unleashed bulls running behind each other with no clue of who is chasing who!

In simple terms it’s a MAD Game! For multiple reasons like

- IT is not safe, if you are not watching from distance
- The bulls are tortured beyond imagination!!
- There is no minimal injury in this game ; either you are dead or you are not usefully alive!

There are various associations who speak to put an end to this on behalf of animal rights!!??? But none to speak on the humans, the people who participate in the game.
YES, I understand that this is a Traditional game with long history but please when are we going to grow??? We don’t want to see men carried out from the podium bleeding like crazy!!!

While I was talking to my father in law he gave me a very valid point of why these games are still in vogue. Money!! The set of people who get into playing these games are from down south villages of Tamil Nadu and are basically farmers and agriculturist by profession, more of a rural crowd. The Prize money would run a few thousands and that is a huge sum to earn on one shot!!. The truth is this has become a cult in the southern belt. There are group of people who breed bulls just for the cause of unleashing them during these festive times. In the end of the game there are only two parties’ affected The Injured men or the dead mans family and THE BULL!! The bull which loses the game (if a man had won over it) will be sold and cant run again on another event.

The Supreme Courts banning on this game has hurt lot of people sentiments it seems. Did it hurt the sentiment or the money made?? Who knows? If it is the sentiment, instead of banning ; the Government should take necessary steps to make it a bit safe game to participate. There should be mobile hospitals posted near the place of the event and timely help for the injured should be FREE of cost! If it is the business, ahem ahem..! I don’t have a say!!!

Having said this all it had been my dream to see one of those events live!! :) )
