These days, there has been many demands from public! Child Free Zones are the TOP on the list! I was never in favor of that, which is again a different post but what I witnessed (or was forced to) was something more unpleasant than a 5yrs old running around knocking your drink off! At least you can clean the spill!

I had to take my Dad for a CT Scan and went to one the Famous and most populated places in Chennai. As the process of any CT Scan, the patient is suppose to keep his stomach empty and sit around for minimum of 3 hours and thats exactly where the trouble started!!

The young couple, a good looking, mid 20’s, gujju women and her husband (with ugly green jeans and  loads of GOLD jewellry all over him) were waiting along with others in the Reception probably waiting for their family members! It was all fine for a little while and slowly they started talking Loud, REALLY LOUD! This is the first thing we as Indians got to learn; Talking slowly!! We know you are holding a call from London or from Gujarat, but raising your voice definitely does not make you any closer to the location! Shouting on top of your voice about how your maid did not do that Kesar Badam milk properly or how the other sister in law bought the same saree you got for last diwali is something we are least interested in! You may wonder why, its because that WE are surrounded by elderly people with bad heart conditions and actually have challenges with other parts of their body working properly! You MAY BE DISTURBING THEM !

This is was at least OK, to what happened next, the women was tired after all that complaining and yelling  shifted her head to her husband shoulders, and the very dutiful husband starts caressing his wife’s back and neck. VERY COMFORTING, Filmy and feels great! I know !! BUT ! NOT IN-FRONT OF a bunch of people who are like your Dad or mom or even as old as your Grand Parents, Trust me, we are empathetic about public display of affections, but only if we were in a PARK or a Cinema HALL, that too these days there you got be careful with this moral policing going on! In a busy place like this SCAN Center with SICK people around. NOT QUITE Baby !!

With this very sight, my dad started shifting very uncomfortably in his seat so I had to look for a different place for him. I took him to a different area but found only one seat vacant and after letting him sit there,  I resentlyfully returned to witness the romance still going on. I had the tiniest hope that they would have got some hint by now from  the faces around, BUT ALAS, their LOVE is so bloody strong, they refuse to move out of each others hand, shoulders and body. Phew !

Then the worse thing happened, the GUY was in need of some comfort too! You cant complain can you?? After all Love is about giving and receiving right?!! :) He started to position his head and one side of the face on the right side of his shoulder, just below her neck and the SIGHT was way too romantic to see in real! If you people have ever noticed, these gujju marvari people have a great dressing sense, the women especially play all sorts of games with their blouses (I love them actually) and the Saree material they choose to wear is always some gorgeous Chiffon or a silky smooth grape, which is a trusted brand, but now started to be very unfaithful and kept falling off her shoulder! By which the rest of the people there were once again summoned to view the sight of the Saree Pallu giving away sexily (OH MY GOD) and the hubby darling, trying to help her cover her bodice. I don’t want to continue any more of what we all went through sitting there, few people started making rude comments loudly and showed faces abruptly for the couple to get the hint, but again LOVE did WIN!

It took me a while to shift from that place and carry on with my work! But the scene refuse to get out of my mind! For all of us who demand the Children Free zone and other things I for once DEMAND ADULT Free ZONES, I want certain type of places to have a board telling politely how to behave. I mean its none of my effing business, but there only as much a person can handle right? Let them have their dose of “Sharing” and “Giving” in their respective bedrooms or anywhere else private, PLEASE do not  suffocate the poor public with your LURVE !! Especially in places like HOSPITALS and RAILWAY STATIONS where you are forced to wait for long hours and you have no where to go! I hope they would some day learn that public display of affection is a turn on for the spouses definitely NOT for the GEN Public!!

This is not the first time I am being a seeing something like this, such sites are quite common in Buses, Trains and in Parks or even in the Hotels (its quite romantic when your partner feeds you, you tried??). The issue is as I said PDA (Public Display of Affection) is quite nice, its a feel good factor only when it is a very pleasant when you do the right things; Now I dont want to be answering questions on who sets the standards and who will decide what the right thing is and all that!! DONT WE have something called as Brain in a working condition, which has something called common sense in it? I am saying lets put that damn thing in USE!! What set me off completely was, these are the married ones, living in a big joint family and they know how these kind of things works infront of elders or gen public!

The funniest thing here is, If it was a bunch of KIDS misbehaving, we can actually politely tell them not to do so, but with these so called adults, we just dont stand a chance! Do we?

PS* = Please dont jump and yell about how judgemental i am and all that crap, I have LOADS of WELL BEHAVED GUJJU AND MARVARI FRIENDS who are very precious to me and IT IS VERY UNFORTUNATE that the couple I SAW happen to be one among them and THAT IS IT!
