Of the silly things I do, these are the most silliest I comprehend.

- I get cranky, If I dont get my Coffee with a burst of Froth.

- I invariably panic while looking for my mobile. Which i dig out every time from my bag.

- I wash my feet a Zillion times a day, which i think is a disease ! :( ??

- The first thing I do after I wake up is hunt my mobile down and erase all the dialed numbers and previous days SMSes. Hmpf!! tell me i am not alone.. please!!

- I wash my face with cold water before I get to bed.  my husband thinks am hopeless!

- Whenever I try a new dress on, the first thing I look at is my back, I mean BACK not Butt OK?

Gasp…! Do I need a shrink?? :)

Nothing much has been happening around, good stuff i mean. Had been to a wedding reception of a friend of mine. Rich fabulous place, kind people, grand welcome, great food…. fantastic music. Yeah… was my all time fav Nithyashree Mahadevan.

That’s the kind of thing you learn even when you are not a carnatic singer or something, being a part of the Orthodox and Conventional place like westmambalam has a certain effect on you. Being said that, Its a 100% TamBram area, where there is no dearth of good food, nalla kappi and super music (of course carnatic), In Ayodhya Mandapam, during the Feb – March season you cant miss the vibe around, Rama Navami. Its the next big thing to Diwali there! 30 days of Festival, Poojas and lot more stuff and THE BEST part, you get to see a dozen or more Well established and well known names from the Carnatic Music field, You name it we have seen, heard and made them sing :) !

Nithyasheree is a all time fav there. You are lucky if you get a place to sit nearby the stage (this is because Ayodhya mandapam does no charge anything for ticket it works on a first come first serve basis).  You will not get a place to park your BSA, there are people everywhere.. right from 2 to 80yrs or even more… lined up, gathered to get a glimse of the stars who they cant imagine seeing or hearing without a 1000/- entrance fee :) (in most of the Academys) .

Being the grand daughter of the great DK Pattamal, she came into lime light with an fame already carrying her. She had that elemant in her. For people like us (I here only mean people who have interest in carnatic music and knows, listens and can identify the ace singers of this era or possibly associate with what they are singing, this has nothing to do with the big M and small M :) ) going to Madapam and getting a place to keep our behind becomes a huge and important task, as the kids of the family, we will be asked to leave early in the evening and catch a place or two or more for the elders from the family to sit around. This is done religiously year on year!

So.. the big thing said, catching a glimpse of her and going near her for a quick handshake or to get a autograph is a high on adrenaline feel. Its immense. I’ve cried that I could not see the person singing (it was Priya Sisters) !!

But… in the Wedding Reception, She was there… in that big stage.. when i entered.. i was expected to walk to the Dias (really huge, to and extend you could play cricket) where the Bride and the Groom was standing (in a corner) but .. the Me went straight to sit, RIGHT in-front row seats.. 20 steps away from the stage where Nithyashree was singing. OH MY GOD!!!! Did I MOVE??? Nope ! I saw her face, they way her expression changes… her eyes getting wide.. Delight. The Music.. when I entered she was singing this

.

This is the best i could get !!

I turn around to see none…. listening to her.. Actually no one could relate to what she was doing, I dont  blame them… but her.. for a person like her.. who has got everything she wanted (may be not the money)  the name, fame and the knowledge, I was disappointed. I have heard from my “Patti” that DK Pattamal or the Great MS Subbulakshmi amma wont sign up for a contract to sing on any public / private events if it is not for the people who they know very well or the kind of the crowd that could associate the Music with!!! There where hardly 4 people looking her .. leave alone listening to what she was singing and the BEST part…some one came and asked me who she was.. and I got to give them a reference to the song “Minsara Kanna” in “Padaiappa” for them to understand. For the kind of roots that she come from, we expect more, we expect class we expect respect for what ever she does.  I hope she demands that too.. acknowledgement should be there. You are not a fresher out of the collage getting into this business, YOU are a LEGEND already or atleast YOU represent something MORE LEGENDARY, more divine that your own identity. THAT was lacking, that really disappoints me. Why would she do that do herself??? God knows how much she earned on that particular event but she sure lost some brownie points from me :(

Commercialised? What else!!
